The end of summer always comes with a strange feeling.
The days become shorter, the pace changes, and suddenly the wardrobe that has followed us through long lunches, warm evenings and days by the sea has to find its place back in everyday life.
But perhaps summer does not have to end so abruptly.
An Indian summer is an invitation to keep wearing the pieces that made us feel good all season, simply in a different way. To bring a little of that holiday feeling into the city, and let summer live on beyond the beach.

Few pieces transition as naturally as a good shirt.

A matching set has an instinctive holiday feeling to it. Perhaps it is the ease of getting dressed without having to think too much about what goes with what.

A printed shirt and matching trousers can become an effortless city look with a pair of simple shoes and a more structured bag. A summer short can be worn with an oversized shirt, a knit or a jacket as the evenings become cooler.
The idea is not to make summer pieces look less like themselves.

Swimwear, reimagined
Swimwear is often considered the first thing to disappear when summer ends.
We see it differently.
A bikini top can become a layer beneath an open shirt or jacket. A one-piece can be worn as a bodysuit with trousers or a long skirt. A pareo can become a skirt, a scarf, or an unexpected layer over a simple city look.
The pieces we love most are often the ones that reveal something new when worn differently.
What was once part of a beach look becomes part of an evening one.
Let colour stay
There is also something to be said for keeping colour in your wardrobe a little longer.
After months of sun, skin, sea and bright skies, going straight back to an entirely neutral wardrobe can feel premature.
A vivid print worn with denim. A colourful shirt under a blazer. A printed accessory with an otherwise simple outfit.
Sometimes, one summer piece is enough to change the entire mood of a look.

Perhaps the real challenge is not how to wear summer clothes after summer.
